Dr. Candace Stroud - Veterinarian

${name}

Dr. Candace Stroud is originally from Hertford County, NC and now lives in Concord.

While in veterinary school she met Dr. Amat and later came to see the clinic. She really liked the area and the people and joined the team as a veterinarian in 2017! Like all of our vets, she is a graduate of North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Stroud has always had an interest in biology and medicine; she decided to become a veterinarian after adopting an older dog, Penny, who had breast cancer. After Penny's passing, she started to rehabilitate feral dogs and even adopted one of her more difficult cases. In 2017 she was awarded the North Carolina State award for excellence in the field of Animal Behavior. Because of these life experiences, Dr. Stroud has a special interest and has taken extra training in behavior, quality of life, and geriatric care. She is also interested in finding ways to make veterinary visits more comfortable for the feline population and is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

Dr. Stroud is married to Zach Stroud and they have several furry, feathered, scaled, and even 8-legged children! When she is not at Poplar Animal Hospital she is cooking, reading, writing, and doing crochet.
